SYT Antibody (E-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects SYT in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SYT, or synovial translocation protein, plays a crucial role as a transcriptional coactivator, facilitating the expression of genes involved in cell growth and differentiation, which is particularly important in the context of synovial sarcoma, a type of cancer that arises in soft tissues. SYT features a conserved amino terminal SNH domain and a carboxy terminal QPGY domain, the latter of which acts as a transcriptional activating sequence. SYT is involved in the t(x;18) translocation, leading to the formation of SYT-SSX fusion proteins that function as potent transcriptional activators, contributing to the oncogenic process in synovial sarcomas. These fusions are predominantly found in synovial sarcomas, which account for up to 10% of soft tissue sarcomas and can be classified into biphasic and monophasic subtypes based on the specific fusion partner, either SSX1 or SSX2. Anti-SYT antibody (E-5) detection of these critical fusion proteins makes this reagent an invaluable tool for researchers studying synovial sarcoma and its underlying molecular mechanisms.
