Syndecan-2 Antibody (F-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Syndecan-2 in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Syndecan-2 antibody (F-5) is specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 59-95 within an N-terminal extracellular domain of Syndecan-2 of mouse origin. Syndecan-2 (F-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Syndecan-2, also known as fibroglycan or HSPG, plays a crucial role in cell-extracellular matrix interactions and is particularly important in areas of high morphogenetic activity, such as epithelial-mesenchymal interfaces and prechondrogenic and preosteogenic mesenchymal condensations. Syndecan-2 is a type I integral membrane proteoglycan that contains both chondroitin sulfate and heparan sulfate groups, which are essential for mediating cell adhesion and growth factor binding. Anti-Syndecan-2 antibody (F-5) interacts with several key proteins, including Syndecan-1 and Syndecan-3, which are involved in embryonic development and tissue organization. Syndecan-2′s ability to bind growth factors and extracellular matrix components underscores its significance in developmental processes and tissue repair, making this protein a valuable target for research in cell biology and regenerative medicine.

The datasheet for this antibody says that it is specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 59-95 within an internal region of ms Syndecan-2. However, amino acids 19–145 in ms Syndecan-2 are the extracellular, not cytoplasmic (internal?) domain?

Asked by: TFL Wishart
Thank you for your question. This antibody does have an epitope that is mapping within the extracellular region of Syndecan-2. The description of the epitope mapping within an "internal region" is misleading, and will be updated; it was intended to describe the epitope mapping as neither N-terminal, or C-terminal, but rather in between.

Can you please clarify this statement about the antibody being "specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 59-95 within an internal region of Syndecan-2 of mouse origin"? AA 59-95 are within the ectodomain of syndecan-2, so how is this possible?

Asked by: Tincan615
Thank you for your question. The term 'internal region' refers to the epitope being neither N-terminal nor C-terminal. It does not specify whether the epitope is within an intracellular or extracellular domain of the protein.

The description states that sc-376160 is "specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 59-95 within an internal region of Syndecan-2 of mouse origin". Amino acids 59-95 reside in the extracellular portion of Syndecan-2. Can you please explain?

Asked by: ctermini
Thank you for your question. The epitope for this antibody maps within amino acids 59-95 of Syndecan-2 of mouse origin (accession#P43407). The exact epitope has not been mapped.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-376160 P appropriate for?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen.
