SEE ALSO...

Synaptotagmin XI Antibody (D-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Synaptotagmin XI protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Synaptotagmin XI antibody (D-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Synaptotagmin XI, also known as SYT11, is a 431 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in synaptic vesicle trafficking and neurotransmitter release. SYT11 is primarily localized to the membrane and is expressed ubiquitously, with highest levels found in brain and lung. Notably, SYT11 is suggested to be calcium-independent due to a single point mutation in one of its C2 domains, which distinguishes SYT11 from other members of the synaptotagmin family that typically function as calcium sensors. This unique characteristic may influence SYT11′s interactions and regulatory roles in synaptic processes. Additionally, SYT11 interacts with ubiquitin-E3-ligase Parkin, a gene product associated with juvenile Parkinson′s disease, leading to polyubiquitination and subsequent degradation of SYT11 by the proteasome complex. Defects in the gene encoding SYT11 have been implicated in various neurological disorders, including schizophrenia and Parkinson′s disease, highlighting SYT11′s importance in maintaining synaptic integrity and function.
