SV40 T Ag Antibody (Pab 416) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the large T antigen of SV40 origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Anti-SV40 T Ag antibody (Pab 416) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatility for different experimental needs. The large T antigen plays a crucial role in the viral life cycle and is essential for the transformation of host cells, as SV40 T Ag interacts with key cellular proteins that regulate the cell cycle. Notably, large T antigen binds to the retinoblastoma (Rb) tumor suppressor protein, specifically targeting the "pocket" domain, which is also the binding site for the E2F transcription factor. This interaction leads to the inactivation of Rb, resulting in the release of E2F and subsequent transcription of genes required for cell cycle progression, thereby promoting uncontrolled cell division. Understanding the function of large T antigen and its interactions is vital for elucidating the mechanisms of viral oncogenesis and the potential development of therapeutic strategies against cancers associated with viral infections.
