    SEE ALSO...

SUMF2 Antibody (D-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SUMF2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SUMF2 (D-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SUMF2, also known as sulfatase-modifying factor 2, plays a crucial role in the activation of sulfatases, which are essential enzymes that hydrolyze sulfate esters to remove sulfate residues from diverse substrates. The proper functioning of sulfatases depends on the presence of Cα-formylglycine (FGly), a unique amino acid generated post-translationally by specific enzymes from cysteine residues. SUMF2 is primarily localized in the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum and acts as an FGly-generating enzyme, although SUMF2 exhibits low catalytic activity when functioning alone. However, in a heterodimeric complex with SUMF1, another FGly-generating protein, SUMF2 significantly enhances catalytic efficiency. SUMF2 consists of 301 amino acids and is expressed in various human tissues, including the lung, heart, placenta, brain, liver, pancreas, skeletal muscle, and kidney, highlighting SUMF2′s importance in multiple physiological processes. Alternative splicing of the SUMF2 gene results in the production of four distinct isoforms, further contributing to the complexity of SUMF2′s functional roles in cellular metabolism and signaling pathways.
