STRAP Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects STRAP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). STRAP (E-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. STRAP protein plays a crucial role in regulating TGFβ signaling pathway, which is essential for various cellular processes, including cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. STRAP acts as an antagonist to TGFβ signaling by interacting with Smad7, a key mediator in this pathway, thereby inhibiting TGFβ-induced transcriptional activation. This interaction helps maintain cellular homeostasis and prevent excessive signaling that could lead to pathological conditions. The gene encoding human homolog of STRAP, known as unr-interacting protein, is located on chromosome 12p12.3 and exhibits 97% amino acid homology with STRAP, highlighting evolutionary conservation across species. Unr-interacting protein binds to unr, a cytoplasmic RNA-binding protein involved in RNA translation, further emphasizing STRAP′s multifaceted roles in cellular regulation. STRAP gene presence across species, from mammals to yeast, underscores its fundamental importance in eukaryotic cell biology.
