Stra8 Antibody (526CT11.1.5) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects Stra8 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB). Anti-Stra8 antibody (526CT11.1.5) is available as the non-conjugated format. Stra8 protein, also known as stimulated by retinoic acid gene 8, is a crucial 338 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that plays a significant role in the reproductive system, particularly in meiosis. Stra8 protein is specifically expressed in testis and embryonic ovaries, where Stra8 is essential for premeiotic DNA replication in both male and female germ cells. This replication is a prerequisite for proper transition into meiosis, and disruption in Stra8 function can lead to incomplete meiosis, resulting in premature chromosome condensation in spermatocytes. Human Stra8 gene is located on chromosome 7, a region containing over 1,000 genes implicated in various genetic disorders, including Osteogenesis imperfecta and Williams-Beuren syndrome. Understanding Stra8 protein function is vital, as Stra8 facilitates meiosis onset and ensures genetic material integrity during gamete formation, essential for fertility and genetic information propagation across generations.
