Stat5b Antibody (G-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that specifically recognizes an epitope mapping between amino acids 750-779 at the C-terminus of Stat5b of mouse origin. Stat5b monoclonal antibody (G-2) detects Stat5b of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC) on paraffin-embedded sections, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and is also reactive with additional species including equine, canine, bovine, and porcine. Stat5b, or Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 5b, and also called STAT5 and GHISID2, is a critical transcription factor that plays a key role in cytokine and growth factor signaling pathways. Stat5b becomes activated in response to stimuli such as IL-2, IL-4, CSF-1, and growth hormones, typically through receptor tyrosine kinases or G protein-coupled receptors. Stat5b undergoes phosphorylation, dimerization, and translocation to the nucleus to regulate gene expression, influencing T-cell receptor signaling, apoptosis, adult mammary gland development, and sexual dimorphism of liver gene expression. The significance of Stat5b is underscored by its role as the major liver-expressed Stat5 form implicated in acute promyelocytic leukemias (APLL) through fusion with the retinoic acid receptor alpha gene, and studies in Stat5b null mice have shown severely impaired lymphoid development and differentiation, highlighting its importance in hematopoiesis and immune function. Stat5b monoclonal antibody (G-2) is available in non-conjugated form and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, HRP, PE, FITC, and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatility for diverse research applications.

What is the difference between sc-1656 and sc-1656 P?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your inquiry. sc-1656 is our standard unconjugated Stat5b (G-2) monoclonal antibody. sc-1656 P is the blocking peptide matching this antibody that can be used as a negative control in combination with the antibody. For the protocol on how to use the blocking peptide, please see here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
