SR-A Antibody (C-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects scavenger receptor class A (SR-A) in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SR-A is a critical protein involved in the uptake of modified low-density lipoprotein (LDL), which plays a significant role in lipid metabolism and atherosclerosis. The gene encoding human SR-A is located on chromosome 8 and produces two main isoforms, SR-AI and SR-AII, both of which are essential for mediating LDL uptake in atherosclerotic lesions. SR-AI and SR-AII contain six distinct domains that contribute to their function, with domain IV being crucial for trimerization and domain V facilitating a broad range of ligand recognition. SR-A is expressed in key tissues such as the liver, placenta, and brain, highlighting SR-A′s importance in various physiological and pathological processes, including host defense and cell adhesion. A third isoform, SR-AIII, does not participate in LDL uptake and may serve as a dominant negative isoform, potentially offering protective effects in advanced atherosclerotic lesions. Anti-SR-A antibody (C-6) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying SR-A′s implications in diseases like atherosclerosis and Alzheimer′s disease, as well as SR-A′s broader role in macrophage-associated processes.
