SEE ALSO...

SP-D Antibody (C-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SP-D of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SP-D (C-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SP-D plays a crucial role in the innate immune system, functioning as a collectin that binds to carbohydrates on the surface of pathogens, thereby facilitating their clearance from the lungs. SP-D is primarily located in the alveoli of the lungs, where SP-D contributes to the immune defense against inhaled microorganisms and helps maintain pulmonary homeostasis. By binding to the lipid components of bacterial cell walls, SP-D enhances opsonization and promotes phagocytosis by immune cells, making SP-D essential for protecting the respiratory system from infections. The ability of SP-D to modulate immune responses and involvement in surfactant metabolism underscore SP-D′s importance in respiratory health and disease.

I am using SP-D (C-6): sc-25324 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: jerojero
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
