SP-B Antibody (1B9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects SP-B in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SP-B (1B9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatility for different experimental needs. SP-B, or surfactant protein B, plays a crucial role in the respiratory system by facilitating the proper function of pulmonary surfactant, which is essential for reducing surface tension at the air-liquid interface in the alveoli. This reduction in surface tension is vital for preventing alveolar collapse during exhalation and ensuring efficient gas exchange. SP-B′s structure is particularly important as a hydrophobic protein that interacts with surfactant lipids, promoting their absorption and stability. SP-B′s ability to form oligomers enhances function in surfactant metabolism and homeostasis, making SP-B a key player in maintaining lung function and protecting against respiratory distress.
