Somatostatin Antibody (H-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Somatostatin in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Somatostatin antibody (H-11) is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Somatostatin is a crucial regulatory hormone that plays a significant role in inhibiting the release of several secondary hormones by binding to high-affinity G protein-coupled somatostatin receptors. This cyclic tetradecapeptide inhibits the secretion of key hormones including growth hormone, insulin, and glucagon. Somatostatin is predominantly located in the hypothalamus and pancreas, where Somatostatin regulates insulin synthesis and overall metabolic processes. Somatostatin exists in two active forms—Somatostatin-14 and Somatostatin-28—produced through the cleavage of a single preproprotein, with distinct expression patterns in the cerebellum at different developmental stages.
