SOD-2 Antibody (E-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 22-58 near the N-terminus of the Superoxide Dismutase 2 (SOD2) protein of human origin, and is reactive with mouse, rat, and human species. SOD2, also known as manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD), is a critical mitochondrial enzyme that protects cells from oxidative damage by converting superoxide anions into hydrogen peroxide and oxygen. This homotetrameric protein relies on manganese as a cofactor and plays a central role in maintaining mitochondrial integrity, as the mitochondria are a major source of reactive oxygen species (ROS). SOD2 interacts with numerous proteins that influence cellular stress responses, including APE1, a DNA repair enzyme that helps mitigate oxidative damage, and FOXO3, a transcription factor involved in oxidative stress resistance. These interactions highlight SOD2′s role in coordinating cellular defense mechanisms against oxidative stress, which is critical for preventing conditions such as neurodegenerative diseases, ischemic heart disease, and cancer. Deficiency or mutations in SOD2, including alterations in its interaction with partner proteins, are associated with pathologies like cardiomyopathy and mitochondrial dysfunction. Anti-SOD2 antibody (E-10) is validated for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), making SOD2 (E-10) antibody a versatile and reliable tool for studying SOD2 and its interactions.
