SOD-2 Antibody (A-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody raised against amino acids 1-222, representing the full-length Superoxide Dismutase 2 (SOD2) protein of human origin, and is reactive with mouse, rat, and human species. SOD2, also known as manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD), is a homotetrameric mitochondrial enzyme composed of four identical subunits, each binding a manganese ion critical for catalytic activity. This structural arrangement enables SOD2 to efficiently convert reactive oxygen species (ROS), such as the superoxide anion, into less harmful molecules like hydrogen peroxide and oxygen, thus protecting cells from oxidative stress. The tetrameric structure not only enhances stability but also optimizes enzymatic activity required to mitigate the damaging effects of ROS, which are byproducts of mitochondrial respiration. Given SOD2′s essential role in maintaining cellular homeostasis, structural alterations or deficiencies are associated with various pathological conditions, including neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer′s and Parkinson′s, ischemic heart disease, and idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy. Anti-SOD2 antibody (A-2) is validated for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), making SOD2 (A-2) antibody a versatile tool for detection and study in diverse research applications. SOD2 monoclonal antibody (A-2) is available in non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing researchers with flexibility to explore critical structural and functional properties.

We recommend using one of our our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins (m-IgGκ) conjugated to CFL 680 or CFL 790. They are suitable for use with Near-Infrared (NIR) detection systems, such as LI-COR/Odyssey and other comparable systems.
