SNAP 29 Antibody (9-YD11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects SNAP 29 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SNAP 29, also known as synaptosomal-associated protein of 29 kDa or CEDNIK, is a 258 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in membrane trafficking events by binding tightly to Syntaxins, which are essential for the fusion of vesicles with target membranes. SNAP 29 is predominantly localized to the membrane, cytoplasm, and cell junctions, highlighting its importance in cellular communication and transport processes. Proper functioning of SNAP 29 is vital, as defects in SNAP 29 can lead to CEDNIK syndrome, a neurocutaneous disorder characterized by severe developmental issues, including cerebral dysgenesis and neuropathy. The gene encoding SNAP 29 is located on human chromosome 22, a region that is significant not only for its relatively small size but also for housing over 500 genes, some of which are implicated in various neurodevelopmental disorders such as Phelan-McDermid syndrome and autism. SNAP 29 (9-YD11) antibody is an invaluable tool for researchers studying the intricate mechanisms of membrane trafficking and the pathological implications of SNAP 29 dysfunction.
