SEE ALSO...

SMYD2 Antibody (F-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SMYD2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SMYD2 (F-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SMYD2, also known as SET and MYND domain containing 2, KMT3C, HSKM-B, or ZMYND14, is a 433 amino acid protein characterized by the presence of one SET domain and one MYND-type zinc finger. SMYD2 is predominantly expressed in the liver, heart, kidney, ovary, and brain, where SMYD2 functions as a lysine methyltransferase. SMYD2 methylation activity on p53 tumor suppressor protein is particularly significant, as SMYD2 may play a crucial role in regulating p53-mediated transcriptional repression, which is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing tumorigenesis. SMYD2 gene is located on human chromosome 1, a region that spans 260 million base pairs and contains over 3,000 genes, many of which are associated with various diseases, including familial adenomatous polyposis and several neurodegenerative disorders. Chromosome 1 is implicated in numerous cancers, such as head and neck cancer, malignant melanoma, and multiple myeloma, highlighting the importance of studying SMYD2 in cancer biology and therapeutic development.

Would there be any issues using this antibody (sc-393827: SMYD2) under non-reducing conditions?

Asked by: matt_b
Thank you for your question. We have not tested this antibody under non-reducing conditions for Western blotting, so we do not know if it would be suitable for this application. The Western blot data shown on our website is all under reducing conditions.

Are there any issues with using sc-393827: SMYD2 (F-9) mouse monoclonal primary antibody on mouse samples?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent,we recommend using a directly conjugated primary antibody. Please contact our special orders department for pricing and availability of sc-393827 conjugates.
