    SEE ALSO...

SMYD1 Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects SMYD1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SMYD1 (A-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SMYD1, also known as SET and MYND domain-containing protein 1, BOP, ZMYND18, or ZMYND22, is a critical nuclear and cytoplasmic protein that plays a vital role in cardiac morphogenesis and cardiomyocyte differentiation. SMYD1 contains one SET domain and one MYND-type zinc finger, which are essential for function as a transcription factor. SMYD1 is specifically expressed in cardiac and skeletal muscle, where SMYD1 interacts with histone deacetylases HDAC1, HDAC2, and HDAC3, functioning as a histone deacetylase-dependent transcriptional repressor. The importance of SMYD1′s structure lies in its ability to modulate gene expression through these interactions, which are crucial for normal cardiac development. Defects or deletions in the gene encoding SMYD1 can lead to impaired maturation of ventricular cardiomyocytes, underscoring its essential role in heart development and function.
