SMPDL3B Antibody (H-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SMPDL3B of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SMPDL3B (H-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SMPDL3B, also known as sphingomyelin phosphodiesterase, acid-like 3B, or ASMLPD, is a 455 amino acid secreted protein that plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism and cell signaling. SMPDL3B is primarily expressed in granulosa cells of the ovarian follicle and is a homolog of acid sphingomyelinase (ASM), a lysosomal enzyme responsible for hydrolyzing sphingomyelin into ceramide and phosphocholine. ASM enzymatic activity is vital for regulating apoptosis in germ cell lines, and deficiencies in ASM are linked to severe conditions such as type A and type B Niemann-Pick disease. Type A is a devastating neurodegenerative disorder that manifests in infancy, often leading to death by age three, while type B presents with a later onset and is characterized by non-neuropathic symptoms. SMPDL3B′s ability to interact with various lipid substrates underscores its importance in cellular processes, making anti-SMPDL3B antibody (H-3) an essential tool for researchers studying lipid metabolism and related pathologies.
