SMP30 Antibody (17) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects senescence marker protein-30 (SMP30) in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SMP30 antibody (17) plays a crucial role in understanding SMP30 function, which is vital for maintaining intracellular calcium homeostasis by regulating plasma membrane calcium pump activity. This regulation helps protect cells from apoptosis, thereby influencing cell survival and tissue health. SMP30 expression is notably observed in the liver, kidney, and submandibular gland, with localization in the hepatocytes and renal proximal tubular epithelium of the kidney. SMP30 levels increase during tissue maturation and decrease with aging in an androgen-independent manner, highlighting SMP30′s potential as a biomarker for cellular senescence and age-related changes. The promoter sequence of the mouse SMP30 gene contains binding sites for various transcription factors, including Sp1, AP2, CCAAT box, Lyf-1, and GATA-1, which may play a role in regulating SMP30 expression and associated functions.
