SMG1 Antibody (E-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SMG1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SMG1 (E-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SMG1 protein, also known as ATX or LIP, is a crucial serine/threonine protein kinase composed of 3,657 amino acids, which is expressed in various tissues such as heart and skeletal muscle. SMG1 plays a vital role in mRNA surveillance and cellular response to genotoxic stress, utilizing manganese as a cofactor to catalyze the phosphorylation of target proteins. The phosphorylation of proteins on serine and threonine residues is essential for regulating numerous cellular functions, including cell division, homeostasis, and apoptosis, making SMG1 integral to maintaining cellular integrity and function. Additionally, SMG1 contains one FAT domain, one FATC domain, one HEAT repeat, and one PI3K domain, which contribute to structural and functional diversity. Notably, multiple isoforms of SMG1 arise from alternative splicing events, further enhancing functional repertoire in cellular processes.
