Smac Antibody (56) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that recognizes Smac in mouse, rat, human, and canine samples through applications such as western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Smac, also known as second mitochondria-derived activator of caspase, plays a crucial role in regulating apoptosis by promoting caspase activation in the cytochrome c/Apaf-1/caspase-9 pathway. Smac is primarily located in mitochondria of healthy cells, where anti-Smac antibody (56) can detect its function in inhibiting the Inhibitors of Apoptosis Proteins (IAPs) that would otherwise prevent caspase activation. Upon apoptosis onset, Smac is released into the cytosol, where Smac (56) monoclonal antibody can monitor its binding to IAPs, effectively neutralizing their inhibitory effects and allowing for programmed cell death execution. Smac′s ability to modulate apoptosis is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing uncontrolled cell proliferation, making Smac (56) antibody valuable for research in cancer and other diseases characterized by dysregulated apoptosis.
