    Sm G Antibody (A-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Sm G protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Sm G antibody (A-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Sm G protein, also known as SNRPG, plays a crucial role in the assembly and function of small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs), which are essential components of the spliceosome responsible for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotic cells. Proper functioning of the spliceosome is vital for gene expression regulation, as this process ensures accurate removal of introns and joining of exons, ultimately influencing protein diversity and cellular function. Sm G, along with other Sm proteins, forms a stable core complex that binds to the conserved Sm site on U snRNA, facilitating the formation of functional snRNPs. Genes encoding Sm G and its interacting partner Sm F are located on chromosomes 2 and 12, respectively, and both are expressed as 0.5 kb transcripts in HeLa cells. Sm proteins are significant in the context of autoimmune diseases, as these proteins are frequently targeted by autoantibodies in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, highlighting their importance in both cellular biology and clinical research.
