Sm B/B′/N Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Sm B/B′/N in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Sm B/B′/N antibody (A-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Sm B/B′/N plays a crucial role in the spliceosome, a complex responsible for processing mRNA precursors by excising introns to create continuous coding sequences. Sm B/B′/N functions as part of the small nuclear ribonucleoprotein particles (snRNPs), which are essential for the splicing process. Sm proteins, including Sm B, B′, D1, D2, D3, E, F, and G, share a conserved Sm sequence motif, which is vital for RNA processing. Antibodies against Sm proteins are often associated with autoimmune diseases, particularly systemic lupus erythematosus, highlighting Sm B/B′/N significance in both normal cellular function and disease pathology.
