Sm B/B′/N Antibody (A-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Sm B/B′/N protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Sm B/B′/N antibody (A-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Sm B/B′/N protein plays a crucial role in the spliceosome, a complex responsible for processing pre-mRNA, where introns are removed to create mature mRNA. This function is vital for gene expression regulation and production of functional proteins, as errors in splicing can lead to various diseases, including cancer and genetic disorders. Sm proteins, which include Sm B, B′, D1, D2, D3, E, F, and G, are essential components of the spliceosome and are characterized by a conserved Sm sequence motif. Notably, antibodies against Sm proteins are often associated with autoimmune diseases, particularly systemic lupus erythematosus, highlighting their importance in both normal cellular function and disease pathology.
