SLBP Antibody (H-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects SLBP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SLBP antibody (H-10) is available as the non-conjugated form. The stem-loop binding protein (SLBP) plays a crucial role in histone mRNA metabolism, specifically by binding to the 3′ end of replication-dependent histone mRNAs, which uniquely lack polyadenylated tails and instead terminate with a conserved stem-loop structure. This interaction is vital for proper processing and translation of histone mRNAs, as SLBP mediates the association of histone pre-mRNA with U7 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (SnRNP), facilitating essential 3′ end processing required for mRNA stability and translation. SLBP forms a stable complex with U7 SnRNP in both nucleus and cytoplasm, underscoring SLBP′s importance in cellular function. SLBP regulation is tightly controlled during cell cycle, with levels increasing in late G1 and decreasing at S/G2 transition, primarily through post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation. Phosphorylation at threonine 99 and threonine 104 triggers SLBP degradation in late S phase cells, highlighting intricate control mechanisms governing histone mRNA synthesis and SLBP′s critical role in maintaining cellular homeostasis.
