Datasheets
  • Skeletal Muscle Myosin Antibody (S58) is a mouse monoclonal IgA κ, cited in 6 publications, provided at 200 µg/ml
  • raised against Myosin purified from upper leg muscle of embryonic day 19 white Leghorn chicken origin
  • recommended for detection of slow fiber–specific Skeletal Muscle Myosin heavy chain of mouse, rat, human and avian origin by WB, IP and IF
  • See Skeletal Muscle Myosin (F59): sc-32732 for Skeletal Muscle Myosin antibody conjugates, including AC, HRP, FITC, PE, Alexa Fluor® 488, 594, 647, 680 and 790.
  • m-IgGκ BP-HRP is the preferred secondary detection reagent for Skeletal Muscle Myosin Antibody (S58) for WB applications. This reagent is now offered in a bundle with Skeletal Muscle Myosin Antibody (S58) (see ordering information below). For additional m-IgGκ BP conjugates see our complete list of Mouse IgG Binding Proteins.

Skeletal Muscle Myosin Antibody (S58) is a mouse monoclonal IgA kappa light chain antibody that detects the slow fiber-specific Skeletal Muscle Myosin heavy chain of mouse, rat, human, and avian origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-Skeletal Muscle Myosin antibody (S58) is available as the non-conjugated form. Myosin plays a crucial role in muscle contraction and cellular movement, functioning as a motor protein that interacts with Actin to generate force. Skeletal Muscle Myosin (S58) monoclonal antibody recognizes a hexameric protein composed of two heavy chain subunits and light chain subunits, which can be either phosphorylatable or non-phosphorylatable. This structural arrangement allows for precise regulation of muscle contraction, with different isoforms of myosin heavy chain being expressed based on specific functional demands of muscle tissue. The myosin heavy chains are encoded by the MYH gene family and exhibit Actin-activated ATPase activity, which is essential for motor function. Understanding myosin structure directly influences the speed and efficiency of muscle contraction, making this protein a key factor in muscle physiology and pathology.

How much sample do you recommend loading on the gel for Western blot detection using Skeletal Muscle Myosin (S58): sc-32733?

Asked by: jerojero
We recommend loading 40–60 µg whole cell lysate, 10–20 µg nuclear extract, 5-10 µg transfected lysate, or 10–20 ng purified protein per lane. A link to our complete Western blotting protocol is provided here for your reference: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting

Rated 3 out of 5 by from used in western blotting-satisfactory!We got this antibody on trial basis from our sales rep Korey Griffin to use as a marker for differentiated L6 cell lysates. No bands were seen in differentiated L6 cells but human skeletal muscle tissue lysates showed decent bands at the expected molecular weight.
