SEE ALSO...

Skeletal Muscle Myosin Antibody (F59) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody designed to recognize fast fiber–specific skeletal muscle myosin heavy chains, including MYH1, MYH2, MYH4, and MYH6, across multiple species such as mouse, rat, human, and avian origins. Anti-Skeletal Muscle Myosin antibody (F59) is raised against myosin purified from the pectoralis muscle of adult White Leghorn chickens in applications like western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Skeletal muscle myosin, a highly conserved and ubiquitously expressed motor protein, plays a critical role in muscle contraction by interacting with actin to generate the force necessary for cellular movement. As a key member of the myosin heavy chain family encoded by the MYH gene family, MYH2 possesses actin-activated ATPase activity, which is essential for its motor function and the regulation of muscle contraction speed. Understanding and detecting MYH2 is vital for research into muscle physiology, disease mechanisms, and developmental biology, as different myosin isoforms are differentially expressed based on muscle functional activity. Skeletal Muscle Myosin (F59) monoclonal antibody is available in both non-conjugated form and a variety of conjugated forms, including horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® variants, providing versatility for diverse experimental requirements. Anti-Skeletal Muscle Myosin antibody (F59) is recommended for scientists investigating the molecular dynamics of skeletal muscle function and pathology.

Does this antibody detect any specific myosin heavy chain? Such as MYH1, MYH6, MYH7, MYH15, MYH2, MYH3, MYH4 etc?

Asked by: Eric Spinetti
Thank you for your question. The exact epitope recognized by this mouse monoclonal antibody has not yet been determined. This clone is recommended for the detection of fast fiber–specific skeletal muscle myosin heavy chain. The exact myosin heavy chain genes/proteins that are targeted are not known.

I am interested in performing a immunoprecipitation of MYH6 using this antibody. However, I don't see any validation of this technique in your website or in any cited papers. Do you have any data demonstrating the efficiency of F59 (sc-32732) for IP?

Asked by: Anonymous
This primary antibody is recommended and warrantied for immunoprecipitation (IP), however we are still gathering data to show on our website. Check back for updates!
