Ska3 Antibody (H-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Ska3 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Ska3 (H-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Ska3, also known as C13orf3 or RAMA1, is a 412 amino acid protein that plays a critical role in the SKA1 complex, which is essential for proper chromosome segregation during cell division. This complex localizes to the outer kinetochore and spindle microtubules, where Ska3 functions as a mediator of microtubule-stimulated oligomerization, facilitating the movement of chromosomes along microtubules. Ska3 ensures accurate chromosome alignment and segregation in the SKA1 complex, which are vital processes for maintaining genomic stability. The gene encoding Ska3 is located on chromosome 13, a region that harbors key tumor suppressor genes such as BRCA2 and RB1, both of which are implicated in various cancers. Abnormalities in chromosome 13, including trisomy 13, can lead to severe developmental issues and significantly impact survival rates, underscoring the importance of Ska3 in cellular function and overall organismal health.
