Ska2 Antibody (H-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Ska2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Ska2 antibody (H-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Ska2, also known as spindle and kinetochore associated complex subunit 2 or FAM33A, is a crucial 121 amino acid component of the Ska1 complex, which plays a vital role in the microtubule-binding subcomplex of the outer kinetochore essential for accurate chromosome segregation. The Ska1 complex is integral to the kinetochore-microtubule interface, directly interacting with microtubules as oligomeric assemblies. Located at the outer kinetochore and spindle microtubules during cell division, Ska2 is indispensable for spindle checkpoint silencing and the transition out of mitosis. Notably, Ska2′s function is critical because downregulation can lead to delayed recruitment of MAD2, a key component of the mitotic spindle checkpoint, to several kinetochores, which may result in the loss of individual chromosomes from the metaphase plate. Ska2 is encoded by a gene situated on human chromosome 17, a region that encompasses over 2.5% of the human genome and is responsible for encoding more than 1,200 genes, highlighting Ska2′s significance in cellular processes and genomic stability.
