Sgo1 Antibody (F-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Sgo1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Sgo1 (F-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Sgo1 protein, also known as shugoshin-like 1, consists of 561 amino acids and is predominantly localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm, with highest expression observed in the testis. Sgo1 plays a critical role in ensuring proper chromosome segregation during cell division by localizing to the inner centromere from prophase to metaphase, where Sgo1 prevents premature dissociation of the cohesin complex from centromeres. By inhibiting phosphorylation of the SA-2 subunit of the cohesin complex, Sgo1 ensures that cohesin remains at the centromere until cleaved by Separase during anaphase. This function is vital for accurate attachment of spindle microtubules to the kinetochore, thereby maintaining genomic stability. Additionally, Sgo1 may be involved in the spindle-assembly checkpoint′s tension-sensing mechanism by modulating affinity of Polo-like kinase at the kinetochore. Notably, Sgo1 exists in seven alternatively spliced isoforms, one of which (isoform 3) does not localize to kinetochores at any stage of the cell cycle, highlighting the complexity of regulatory mechanisms.
