SerRSmt Antibody (C-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects SerRSmt protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SerRSmt (C-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SerRSmt protein, also known as seryl-tRNA synthetase, mitochondrial, or SARS2, plays a crucial role in protein synthesis by catalyzing the attachment of serine to corresponding tRNA(Ser). This process ensures accurate translation of genetic information into functional proteins by incorporating correct amino acids into growing polypeptide chains. SerRSmt protein localizes in mitochondria and exists as a homodimer, featuring a core catalytic domain and tRNA-binding domain essential for enzymatic activity. SerRSmt protein can misacylate tRNA(Sec) with serine, contributing to selenocysteine biosynthesis, an amino acid significant in antioxidant defense and redox regulation.
