Semenogelin-1 Antibody (G-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Semenogelin-1 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Semenogelin-1 antibody (G-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Semenogelin-1 plays a crucial role in the reproductive process, as Semenogelin-1 is a key component of the gel matrix that surrounds ejaculated spermatozoa, facilitating protection and motility. Semenogelin-1 is secreted by the seminal vesicles and is the predominant protein found in semen. Upon ejaculation, Semenogelin-1 is cleaved by prostate-specific antigen (PSA), leading to semen liquefaction and motile spermatozoa release, which is essential for successful fertilization. Semenogelin-1 can form complexes with Eppin, an epididymal protease inhibitor, which not only enhances antimicrobial properties of sperm but also aids in survival within the female reproductive tract. The genes encoding Semenogelin-1 and related proteins are clustered on chromosome 20, highlighting evolutionary significance and functional interdependence in male fertility.
