    SEE ALSO...

Selenocysteine lyase Antibody (B-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects selenocysteine lyase of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-selenocysteine lyase antibody (B-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Selenocysteine lyase (SCL) plays a crucial role in selenium metabolism by catalyzing the conversion of L-selenocysteine to L-alanine and elemental selenium, a process vital for maintaining selenium homeostasis in the body. This enzymatic reaction requires pyridoxal 5′-phosphate as a cofactor and predominantly occurs in tissues such as the liver, kidney, heart, adrenal glands, and muscle. SCL functions as a selenium delivery protein to selenophosphate synthetase, facilitating the biosynthesis of selenoproteins, which are essential for various biological processes, including antioxidant defense and thyroid hormone metabolism. The regulation of SCL by pyridoxal 5′-phosphate mirrors regulatory mechanisms observed in other enzymes, such as aspartate beta-decarboxylase and arginine racemase, highlighting its significance in metabolic pathways.

Can selenocysteine lyase (B-8): sc-374391 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

    Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your question. Yes, selenocysteine lyase (B-8): sc-374391 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
