Sec8 Antibody (14) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects Sec8 in mouse, rat, human, and canine samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Sec8, also known as EXOC4, REC8, or SEC8L1, is a critical component of the exocyst complex, which plays a vital role in exocytosis, a process essential for membrane trafficking, hormone and neurotransmitter secretion, and the incorporation of membrane proteins and lipids into the plasma membrane. The exocyst complex, composed of eight protein subunits including Sec3, Sec5, Sec6, Sec8, Sec10, Sec15, Exo70, and Exo84, is crucial for targeting exocytic vesicles to specific docking sites on the plasma membrane, thereby facilitating effective cell-cell communication, cell growth, and maintaining cell polarity. Notably, Sec8′s interaction with other proteins in the exocyst complex is essential for modulating microtubule dynamics, which are fundamental to the exocytosis process. The human Sec8 gene is located on chromosome 7q33, and proper function is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and signaling pathways. anti-Sec8 antibody (14) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying the mechanisms of exocytosis and its implications in various physiological and pathological processes.

I am using Sec8 (14): sc-136234 for immunofluorescence, what dilution of this antibody should I use?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your question. We recommend a starting dilution of 1:50. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration. Please find our full immunofluorescence protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
