SEE ALSO...

SEC24A Antibody (4D9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects SEC24A protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SEC24A antibody (4D9) is available as a non-conjugated format. SEC24A, or SEC24 family member A, is a 1,093 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in vesicle trafficking from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to the Golgi apparatus, which is essential for proper secretion of proteins and lipids in eukaryotic cells. SEC24A is part of the Sec24 subfamily within the larger Sec23/Sec24 protein family, which is vital for the formation of COPII-coated vesicles that transport cargo from the ER. SEC24A is one of four mammalian homologs, including SEC24B, SEC24C, and SEC24D, that are closely related to the yeast protein Sec24, a key component of the COPII complex. The COPII complex is responsible for selective export of membrane proteins, and SEC24A functions as a critical component of this machinery, ensuring efficient transport of secretory proteins to the Golgi apparatus. Localized in the cytoplasm, SEC24A is expressed in various cell types, including fibroblasts, hepatocytes, and lymphocytes, and has the ability to form heterodimers with SEC24B and SEC24C, further enhancing functional versatility. Additionally, SEC24A exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms, which may contribute to regulatory mechanisms in vesicle trafficking.
