SEC Antibody (C165) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the SEC protein of Staphylococcus aureus origin by flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-SEC antibody (C165) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The SEC protein, or Staphylococcal Enterotoxin C, is a potent superantigen that plays a critical role in the immune response by stimulating non-specific T-cell proliferation. This characteristic makes SEC not only a significant factor in the pathogenesis of diseases such as toxic shock syndrome and bovine mastitis but also a promising candidate for cancer immunotherapy, as SEC can induce apoptosis in tumor cells. The structure of SEC is particularly important, as SEC consists of a single chain polypeptide with a unique disulfide bond formed by two half cysteines, which is essential for biological activity and stability. Additionally, SEC is predominantly produced by methicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus, highlighting SEC′s relevance in both clinical and therapeutic contexts.
