SEE ALSO...

SDHB Antibody (G-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SDHB protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-SDHB antibody (G-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SDHB plays a crucial role in the mitochondrial respiratory chain, specifically as part of the succinate dehydrogenase complex, which is essential for aerobic respiration. This complex catalyzes the oxidation of succinate to fumarate, a key step in the tricarboxylic acid cycle, linking the metabolic pathways of the Krebs cycle and oxidative phosphorylation. Proper functioning of SDHB is vital for energy production in cells, and mutations in SDHB can lead to significant mitochondrial dysfunction, resulting in various hereditary disorders. For instance, inactivating mutations in SDHB are associated with inherited cases of pheochromocytoma, a type of tumor that can affect the adrenal glands, while mutations in other subunits of the complex can lead to conditions such as Leigh syndrome and juvenile encephalopathy. Understanding SDHB and its interactions within the succinate dehydrogenase complex is essential for elucidating the mechanisms behind these disorders and developing potential therapeutic strategies.
