SEE ALSO...

Scrib Antibody (C-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Scrib protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Scrib antibody (C-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Scrib plays a crucial role in maintaining epithelial integrity and regulating cell polarity, which is essential for proper tissue architecture and function. Scrib (C-6) monoclonal antibody localizes to tight junctions in vertebrate cells, where Scrib interacts with other proteins to ensure correct placement of adherens junctions, thereby influencing cell adhesion and signaling pathways. This localization is vital for forming a functional epithelial barrier, which protects tissues from pathogens and regulates molecular passage. Scrib′s PDZ domains bind to specific sequences at the C-terminus of target proteins, facilitating localization of key epithelial determinants and contributing to overall cell organization. Mutations in Scrib can lead to significant developmental defects and contribute to tumorigenesis, highlighting Scrib′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states.

We are working on gastric cancer and we would like to evaluate scrib membrane labeling. What type of human tissue can be used as a witness ? Thank you very much.

Asked by: marion jost
Thank you for your question. We recommend Hela cells, MCF-7 cells and T-47D cells as positive controls for the Scrib protein.

Can Scrib (C-6): sc-55543 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, Scrib (C-6): sc-55543 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
