Sclerostin Antibody (C-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgM kappa antibody that detects Sclerostin of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Sclerostin antibody (C-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Sclerostin, encoded by the SOST gene, plays a crucial role in bone homeostasis by inhibiting osteoblast activity, which is essential for regulating bone formation and resorption. This regulation is particularly important in conditions such as sclerosteosis and Van Buchem disease, where mutations in the SOST gene lead to excessive bone growth and associated complications, including nerve entrapment and facial distortion. Sclerostin is primarily secreted by osteocytes and is typically expressed at low levels; however, expression can increase in response to mechanical loading or certain hormonal signals, highlighting Sclerostin′s role in adapting bone density to physiological demands. Anti-Sclerostin antibody (C-11) effectively detects Sclerostin across various applications, making this reagent a valuable tool for researchers studying bone metabolism and related disorders.
