SC Antibody (SC-05) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects secretory component (SC) in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-SC antibody (SC-05) plays a vital role in understanding mucosal immunity, as SC is essential for the stability and transport of polymeric immunoglobulins, particularly dimeric IgA and pentameric IgM, across epithelial barriers. SC is primarily located in the lamina propria beneath the mucosal lining of polarized epithelial cells, where SC interacts with polymeric immunoglobulin receptors (pIgRs) to facilitate the transcytosis of immunoglobulins. This location is significant for SC′s function as a protective mechanism, allowing secretory immunoglobulins to resist enzymatic degradation during transport, thereby maintaining their integrity and functionality in body fluids. The human SC gene, located on chromosome 1q31-q41, encodes a 764 amino acid protein that features five immunoglobulin-like domains and a transmembrane region, which are crucial for SC′s interaction with pIgRs and role in immune defense. SC monoclonal antibody (SC-05) enables researchers to gain insights into the mechanisms of mucosal immunity and the dynamics of immunoglobulin transport, contributing to a deeper understanding of immune responses in health and disease.
