SAHH Antibody (A-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SAHH protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SAHH (A-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SAHH protein, also known as S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase or AHCY, is a crucial 432 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that plays a significant role in amino acid biosynthesis by catalyzing the reversible hydrolysis of S-adenosylhomocysteine (SAH) into adenosine and L-homocysteine. This enzymatic activity is vital for regulating intracellular SAH levels, which in turn influences methyltransferase reactions that are essential for various biological processes, including gene expression and protein function. SAHH is structured as a homotetramer, with each subunit capable of binding one molecule of NAD, and is integral to the activated methyl cycle, a pathway that activates the methyl group of methionine through the formation of S-adenosylmethionine. Importantly, defects in the gene encoding SAHH can lead to hypermethioninemia, a metabolic disorder characterized by elevated methionine levels, resulting in symptoms such as sluggishness, muscle weakness, and liver dysfunction.
