    SEE ALSO...

RP2 Antibody (C-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects RP2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). RP2 (C-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. RP2 protein, also known as retinitis pigmentosa 2 or TBCCD2, is a 350 amino acid protein that is primarily localized to the cytoplasmic side of the cell membrane and is a member of the TBCC family. RP2 protein plays a crucial role in retinal development by stimulating the GTPase activity of tubulin and acting as a guanine nucleotide dissociation inhibitor for ARL3 (ADP-ribosylation factor-like 3), which is essential for maintaining proper cellular functions. The interaction between RP2 and ARL3 is particularly important as RP2 prevents the dissociation of the GTP-bound form of ARL3, thereby regulating various cellular processes. Additionally, RP2 can undergo post-translational modifications such as myristoylation and palmitoylation, which are vital for correct membrane targeting and function. Defects in the gene encoding RP2 are linked to retinitis pigmentosa type 2, a genetic disorder that leads to the degeneration of photoreceptor cells, resulting in night vision blindness and progressive loss of both peripheral and central vision.

What blocking solution should I use with RP2 (C-9): sc-390220 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?

    Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your question. We recommend blocking with Blotto (either TBS Blotto A: sc-2333 or TBS Blotto B: sc-2335). Our Western blot protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting
