RNA pol σ F Antibody (1RF18) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the RNA pol sigma F protein of E. coli origin by western blotting (WB). Anti-RNA pol sigma F antibody (1RF18) is available as the non-conjugated format. RNA polymerase plays a crucial role in the transcription of DNA to synthesize RNA, utilizing four ribonucleoside triphosphates as substrates. In prokaryotic cells, the catalytic core, known as RNA polymerase (RNAP), is composed of α, β, and σ subunits, which together initiate the transcription process. RNA pol σ F, also referred to as fliA or flaD, is a 239 amino acid protein that is part of the sigma-70 factor family in E. coli. RNA pol σ F is essential for the regulation of gene expression, specifically mediating the expression of class 3 flagellar operons, which are vital for bacterial motility. RNA pol σ F facilitates the attachment of RNA polymerase to specific initiation sites, underscoring its importance in the transcriptional regulation of flagellar genes, thereby influencing the motility and adaptability of E. coli in various environments.
