SEE ALSO...

Ribophorin I Antibody (E-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Ribophorin I of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Ribophorin I antibody (E-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Ribophorin I plays a crucial role in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) as an integral membrane glycoprotein, specifically localized to the rough ER, where Ribophorin I is involved in the process of N-glycosylation of newly synthesized polypeptides. Ribophorin I is part of the oligosaccharyltransferase (OST) complex, which is essential for the proper folding and maturation of glycoproteins, thereby influencing various cellular functions and signaling pathways. Ribophorin I and II interact with other components of the OST complex, such as OST48 and DAD1, to facilitate the cotranslational addition of oligosaccharides to nascent polypeptides, a critical step in protein maturation that affects protein stability, localization, and function. Understanding Ribophorin I′s role in these processes is vital for elucidating the mechanisms of protein synthesis and modification within the cell, which has implications for various biological functions and disease states.
