Retinal RX Antibody (H-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects Retinal RX in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Retinal RX, also known as RAX (retina and anterior neural fold homeobox), MCOP3, or RX, is a 346 amino acid protein that plays a pivotal role in eye development by regulating retinal cell specification and proliferation. Retinal RX (H-7) antibody recognizes a nuclear protein containing one OAR domain and one homeobox DNA-binding domain, essential for transcriptional regulation and gene expression control. The homeobox DNA-binding domain, a conserved 60 amino acid motif, enables Retinal RX to bind DNA through a helix-turn-helix structure, influencing genes critical for eye formation. Defects in the gene encoding Retinal RX can lead to microphthalmia isolated type 3 (MCOP3), a disorder characterized by corneal and lens opacities as well as scarring of the retina and choroid, underscoring the significance of this protein in ocular health. Anti-Retinal RX antibody (H-7) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying retinal development and associated disorders.
