Rent2 Antibody (G-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Rent2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Rent2 Antibody (G-10) is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Rent2 protein plays a crucial role in nonsense-mediated RNA decay (NMD), maintaining cellular integrity by preventing translation of defective mRNA transcripts that could produce truncated or malfunctioning proteins. This mechanism is particularly important in eukaryotic cells, where detecting and degrading such transcripts helps protect organisms from potential deleterious effects associated with dominant negative or gain-of-function mutations. Rent2, a mammalian homolog of Upf2p, interacts directly with Rent1, which is vital for embryonic viability and contains several functional domains, including an N-terminal zinc finger-like domain and NTPase domains that classify Rent1 as a superfamily group I helicase. The interplay between Rent1 and Rent2, along with involvement of other proteins such as Rent3a and Rent3b, underscores NMD pathway complexity and significance in gene expression regulation.
