    SEE ALSO...

rBAT Antibody (G-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 274-295 of rBAT of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). rBAT monoclonal antibody (G-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Neutral and basic amino acid transport protein (rBAT), encoded by the SLC3A1 gene, plays a crucial role in the reabsorption of dibasic amino acids and cystine in renal and intestinal epithelial cells, functioning as a heavy chain subunit of heterodimeric amino acid transporters. rBAT (G-5) antibody is essential for maintaining amino acid homeostasis, and defects in transport system can lead to cystinuria, a condition characterized by the formation of kidney stones due to the accumulation of cystine. rBAT protein dimerizes with one of seven identified light chain subunits, and mutations in either the SLC3A1 gene or the gene encoding the light chain subunit, SLC7A9, can result in cystinuria, classified as "Type I" and "non-type I," respectively. The clinical manifestations of these mutations are indistinguishable, highlighting the importance of the functional complex formed by both subunits for normal amino acid transport. These attributes make anti-rBAT antibody (G-5) an essential tool for investigating amino acid transport mechanisms and the molecular basis of cystinuria.
