Ras GAP Antibody (B4F8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the Ras GAP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Ras GAP (B4F8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Ras GAP protein plays a crucial role in regulating the activity of the Ras family of GTPases, which are pivotal in controlling cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. By facilitating the hydrolysis of GTP to GDP, Ras GAP acts as a negative regulator of Ras signaling, thereby preventing uncontrolled cell growth that can lead to oncogenesis. Mutations in Ras proteins that impair their GTPase activity can result in persistent signaling, contributing to various cancers. The interaction of Ras GAP with p21Ras significantly enhances the GTP hydrolysis rate, underscoring its importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis. Additionally, the product of the neurofibromatosis type 1 gene (NF1) has been identified as a GTPase-activating protein for Ras, further illustrating the intricate regulatory networks involving Ras GAP and its interactions with other proteins that modulate GTPase activity.

Can you recommend a positive control to use with Ras GAP (B4F8): sc-63 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?

We recommend NIH/3T3 (sc-2210), A-431 (sc-2201), PANC-1 (sc-364380) or JAR (sc-2276) whole cell lysates to use as positive controls as we have Western blot data showing specific detection of Ras GAP in these cell lines.
