SEE ALSO...

RAP1 Antibody (5G7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects RAP1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). RAP1, also known as TERF2IP or DRIP5, is a 399 amino acid protein located in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, featuring one BRCT domain and one Myb-like domain, which are crucial for its function. RAP1 plays a vital role in regulating telomere function and transcription, although RAP1 does not bind directly to DNA. Instead, RAP1 is recruited to telomeric double-stranded 5′-TTAGGG-3′ repeats through interaction with TRF2, highlighting RAP1′s importance in maintaining telomere integrity. Furthermore, RAP1 is essential for negatively regulating telomere recombination and repressing homology-directed repair, processes that are critical for controlling telomere length and stability. The gene encoding RAP1 is located on human chromosome 16q23.1 and mouse chromosome 8 E1, making RAP1 a significant target for studies related to telomere biology and implications in aging and cancer. Anti-RAP1 antibody (5G7) is an invaluable tool for researchers investigating these critical cellular processes.

I am using RAP1 (5G7): sc-47695 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: Trav11
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
