Ran BP-1 Antibody (E-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Ran BP-1 in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Ran BP-1 antibody (E-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Ran BP-1 plays a crucial role in regulating the small Ras-related protein Ran, which is essential for numerous cellular processes, including DNA replication, mitotic entry and exit, and transport of RNA and proteins through the nuclear pore complex. Proper functioning of Ran is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis, ensuring correct localization and timing of nuclear transport events. Ran BP-1 acts as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor inhibitor, modulating RCC1 activity, which is responsible for converting Ran GDP to Ran GTP. By inhibiting RCC1, Ran BP-1 indirectly increases the ratio of Ran GDP to Ran GTP, thereby influencing nuclear transport dynamics. Ran BP2 has been proposed to serve as the docking site for Ran GTP at the nuclear pore complex, highlighting the interconnectedness of these proteins in cellular transport mechanisms.
